| Whoa! 'Romance' is not really the genre I'd use to describe this - I think 'erotic romance' would be more accurate. I thought my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head and I'm familiar with Leigh's work so the fact that the main characters jump into bed in the first chapter kinda threw me for a moment. I think that the book felt like a more intense version of Days of Our Lives (with guns and knives) or The Bold and the Beautiful (with guns and knives) - everything just got more and more fantastical. It went something like this: Lillian Belle's father was murdered, someone tried to kill her, she became an agent, she falls for the superagent who trained her, someone is still trying to kill her, she suffers from amnesia, she's not sure who to trust, her father's brother is now her stepdad, someone is still trying to kill her, her mother is psychotic, her brother disowns her, someone's still trying to her... - it was slightly exhausting to read although no less satisfying for its conclusion. Yes, it's an explosive read - the sex and the action. Diehard Leigh fans will love it, those of you wanting a gentler introduction to romance need not apply here. |
