Fascinations of modern london by reader00 |
| Following the lives of seven very different characters over the course of a week, this novel portrays the fascinations (both good and bad) of modern London (the central ‘character’ for me) in all its diversity. Each person whose life we examine is a part of modern urban life and yet, of course, totally individual and with personal hopes and dreams. Gripping, witty, and entertaining, I couldn’t put it down. |

Week in December by amberstreet |
| It's the week before Christmas in London and Faulks has created a story around seven different characters, all with different agenda. Their paths cross in interesting ways. I felt the character fail to come to life and are often mouthpieces for Faulks' opining about the current economic, social and political scene. It's interesting for the topical political comment but fails to work completely as a novel. |
