The much anticipated novel of the Hathaway series is finally here - and I find it sadly lacking... by toscanini |
| The quote pretty much sums up the type of push me-pull you relationship the hero/heroine have. I had such high hopes for this book but I feel that they were dashed. Dashed, I tell you! Hence my rating of 3 - I feel so bad that I gave it a 3. Do, however, feel free to totally disregard my rating and read the series for yourself and judge :) It arrived, I read and I'm not totally satisfied with Leo & Catherine's story. I've been following the Hathaway series for a wee while now and, with the exception of one of the earlier stories (the sickly Win and the overly possessive Kev), have enjoyed them quite a bit. The dialogue between the hero/heroine in the previous 3 novels was funny, witty and very, very sharp (as in sharp enough to draw blood with). So I expected that same cutting humour in 'Married by morning.' While I may have got it I had a few problems with Catherine's back history that I can't mention here for fear of giving away the ending entirely so can only ask: she dyes her hair because of a scandalous past that was not of her doing and ends up getting nabbed in some harebrained kidnapping attempt possibly by a nobleman but not really? Say WHAT?!? Bah! |
