Lestat or Edward? No competition.... by zoet |
| Summary: Louis, the vampire of the title tells his 200 year tale of his time spent on this earth starting 1791 to the present 90's. Pivotal events include his meeting with the charismatic Lestat who makes him what he becomes and the creation of Claudia a child vampire who can never grow up.
Review:
For me Anne Rice is THE writer of vampire fiction. Her characters are dynamic - especially Lestat. And whether you love him or want to wring his pasty white vampire neck you can't deny he's exciting and feel something missing in the parts of Louis' story where he's absent.
Rice's later Vampire Chronicles don't have the same excitement as her first four of which this is the first. Also don't miss the movie adaptation starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise which is most faithful to the book.
I would recommend this one to anyone looking for a supernatural theme and great active characters that lead the way. Also a great one for people who would have liked Twilight more if it had a bit more bite.
