'My name is Mary Sutter' by Robin Oliverira by thorntn |
| The story of a midwife called Mary Sutter who wished to study to be a Dr. She answered the call of Dorothea Dix to come to nurse soldiers at the beginning of the American Civil war. Mary met a surgeon at the hospital, William Stipp who after seeing her worth began to teach her medicine. Mary and Stipp went into battle zone at Sharpsburg to operate and nurse wounded.
This is an incredible book that I read in 24 hours. I couldn't put it down. The research into early nursing and war nursing and surgery is amazing. |
